Goose Goose Duck
[A revised version of this poem will be published in an anthology by Uphook Press, Fall 2011]
[Written over the past hour or so in response to the “origin” prompt at Poetic Asides. (Props to Jeannine for the pointer!) Hopscotching through some of the other 800+ poems there so far, the one that caught my eye and then stuck with me is Kenji Liu’s Because origin is not a place.]
Hi Peg, I found you through a pingback from my blog. Thanks for your comment, I’m happy you could relate to it, especially as a first gen. I’m a 1.5 gen Taiwanese and Japanese American. By the way, I love your origin poem. I’m going to bookmark you! 🙂
That’s amazing especially for a first draft. LOVE the ending.
I second Joanne: very moving; it’s the “ye afore Scotland” that killed me.
